Holidays,

The time that is suppose to be spent with the ones we care for. The time of giving, receiving, sharing, and caring. The two weeks of holidays when the kids are home, snow covers the lawn, and most importantly everyone is together. 'Tis the season to be jolly. -Neola Husbands-

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!! AND  HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!

I'm finally delighted that this day has come, the presents are opened, and the food is in the oven cooking! I'm actually really excited. I usually don't celebrate the Christmas season. Usually, I am working on Christmas Day or taking some timeout to study. But this year, this year I definitely had no choice. One of my many families has been taking care of me and making sure that I am keeping up the good ole holiday spirits. This is not something I am use to, but now I am beside myself for not doing this earlier!

My holidays started two weeks ago, when we went to get the Christmas tree. You see, we're not the usual "let's get the tree from the grocery store" type of family. We went all the way to Cookstown to hunt for a tree, make sure it's perfect, and cut it down ourselves. I have never done anything like it before, so I was in for a shivery surprise. When we were leaving the house, silly me came downstairs in my little fall jacket and my not so warm boots and some jeans, My family was staring at me trying no to laugh. Long story short, before we left the house, I was transformed into snowboots, snowpants, a ski jacket, thick.gloves, and a hat. I most definitely needed the extra gear because it was fuh-reezing!! But it was so perfect. I went out into an unknown town, got to pick out the Christmas tree, went for a horse ride, and spent time with people I care about.

I know it sounds kind of corny that I keep stressing that I spent time with loved ones, but that is what made my holiday season so important to me. I usually do everything on my own. I buy my own clothes, pay my own phone bill, and I am usually on my own anywhere I go, so feeling the love for the holidays, and having the focus on me was really refreshing and reassuring.

The best part of today being Christmas and all is that THE MADNESS IS FINALLY OVER (except for boxing day)!!! The malls will no longer be as crowded, you don't have to panic about the perfect gift, and no more long lineups!! This morning I got up bright and early. It was continuoulsy stressed to me the importance of Christmas day in this family. The real pressure was on when I realize just how much this means to a 5 years old girl. This morning I was awaken bright and early by the sounds of excited people. Me, not so much. I was tired, I was exhausted, I was sleepy, I was miserable UNTIL.....I walked upstairs and automatically felt the aura in the atmosphere. Everyone was estatic, and quite frankly, after that short walk upstairs, so was I. I rarely get to experience quality time with friends and family. It was hard to accept this change but now, sitting here writing this and reflecting, I know that I''' voluntarially do this again next year.

So! For everyone celebrating out there, have fun and make the best of it! This time only comes once a year, and each day is something different. And for the couch patatoes, Watch the Sectet Life of the American Teen!!!! Love it soo much. You can really learn from their fictional mistakes! And for everyone else...MERRY CHRISTMAS, HAPPY KWANZA, HAPPY HANUKAH, HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!

From My family, to yours.
