Miss Teen GTA-World 2010
In 2000, my siblings, my father, and I migrated from Guyana to Canada; leaving behind our mother, brother, and entire immediate family. Coming from an environment with a high sense of family values, to one with minimal support, was a big challenge and highly influential. Now, being in grade twelve, I am working towards my life’s motivation: Fighting against the odds. While maintaining a part-time occupation, night school, and an overall average of 90 percent in day school, I still find time to pursue my commitments, including my scholarship in the arts (acting, singing, and dancing). Within this busy schedule,I continue to provide mentorship to children and teenagers in the areas of school, in the community, or with planning their future. I also placed in the top 10 out of 1400 students in the DECA International Business- Regional competition. At the age of sixteen, I, Neola Husbands am dedicated to determining the outcome of my future. I am certain that I have the essential life skills that will guide me to my goals, which includes obtaining a PhD in Clinical Psychology. This way I will able to help many like myself who just need someone to believe in them.
